It's difficult to pigeon hole Carrie into a musical genre as she seems equally adept at singing pop as she does country. She adores Martina McBride.

2004-2005: American Idol

In her American Idol showed that not only was she a beauty that could sing but that she could play guitar as well. It was a long drive for her to make the audition but it turned out well as we all know. This talented lady can also play the piano.

Randy Jackson seemed genuinely surprised that Carrie had not been discovered by the record industry. Her rendition of "Could've Been" had him on her side from the get go. Even cold-hearted Simon proclaimed that she would win and added that she would sell more records than any of the previous winners. Carrie's talent was just that obvious. Simon noted that she has the 'it" factor to be a pop icon. I guess beauty and talent are a tough combination to beat.

On the night of the final two, Carrie had Simon eating out of her hand proclaiming that she had the competition in the bag. Randy gave Carrie his 3rd standing ovation the same night. Of course, she won and has already made quite a career so the American Idol judges were right on.

She got a contract with Arista as a winner of the 4th season of American Idol. Her 1st single "Inside Your Heaven", debuted at you guessed it --- #1 on the Hot 100. Quite a feat for a country song.

Although there have been several American Idols who did well, none have gone on to be true icons like Carrie. Her career is just blossoming and we look forward to seeing her sell hit after hit.
